Requirements

  5. BA/BS university degree
  6. Approved TEFL certificate (or willingness to obtain one during first year of employment)
  7. Valid driving license or international driving permit (a car is necessary)
  8. Valid work visa (visa sponsorship available)
Preferences
  1. TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or certified teacher qualifications
  2. Experience living in rural Japan
  3. Minimum two years of experience teaching in Japan
Description
MY English School is seeking an English language instructor based in Yamagata Prefecture for immediate hire, to replace a teacher resigning due to a family emergency. The position involves teaching student-centered lessons that promote active learning for students of all ages and ability groups in a private language school setting, as well as possible visits to local kindergartens and/or corporations.

Working days:
Tuesday-Saturday

Duties:
A MY instructor teaches English language to students of all ages, cooperates with other teachers and staff, actively participates in and seeks out professional development opportunities, helps at school events, and is a contributing member of a professional group of teachers with high standards for education.
MY English School currently has 7 locations in Yamagata prefecture. The position may require the instructor to move around among locations each day of the week. Transportation fees are paid depending on the distance traveled on any given day.

In addition to the initial one-month training period, MY provides 10 whole-day, full-staff training sessions throughout the year. All instructors receive group membership in JALT (Japan Association for Language Teaching), as well as the opportunity to receive grants to attend teaching conferences throughout Japan.
